… careful, there’s A LOT… and more to be added!
Washington Initiative – We are a group actively working to make the Greater Seattle area a safer and better place. This is done through humanitarian outreach, neighborhood crime watch, empowerment/awareness outreach, law enforcement support, environmental activism and Community Emergency Response. I have been a part of the Initiative for over three years, and leading the Washington branch for over two.
Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) – CERT educates individuals about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT volunteers can assist others in their community following a disaster when professional responders are not immediately available to help. I have been a member of the Tukwila, WA CERT team since 2013.
SeaTac United – “SeaTac United is committed to delivering challenging and fun programs to advance the academic, athletic and leadership skills of SeaTac’s youngest citizens. Our programs focus on skill development in a fun and supportive environment.” I am currently the Volunteer Czar for SeaTac United, working to recruit, engage and advance volunteers.
Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN) – “At GLSEN, we want every student, in every school, to be valued and treated with respect, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. We believe that all students deserve a safe and affirming school environment where they can learn and grow.”
The Seattle Lesbian – The Seattle Lesbian (TSL) is a daily online news magazine operating from offices in the Pacific Northwest, and reaching communities spanning continents around the world. TSL has changed the landscape of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) life by providing thought-provoking content with substantial relevancy on various angles of discussion and advocacy. I have been cross-publishing on The Seattle Lesbian’s site since 2015.
